Check a file
Unzip the pack and open manifest.json in any text editor
Find the file you want to check and note its SHA-256 value.
On a Mac, open Terminal, type shasum -a 256 and a space, then drag the file into the window and press Return
On Windows, open PowerShell, type Get-FileHash and a space, then paste the file's path and press Enter
Compare the result with the value in manifest.json
Upper and lower case don't matter. If they match, the file is the one Superadjust exported.
What a checksum is
A SHA-256 checksum is a 64-character fingerprint of a file. Change one character in the file and the checksum changes completely. It doesn't hide or lock anything; it lets anyone check that a copy is identical to the original.
What a match shows
Evidence pack with files · ZIP
2 students · sample
- A matching checksum shows the file hasn't changed since the pack was exported.
- It doesn't show that the evidence is complete or correct. The summary report and student PDFs are for that.
- A student PDF from More actions, Export evidence isn't part of a ZIP pack, so there's no manifest to check it against.
